Private beta · high school and college

The tutor that studies your notes with you.

Btutored turns your class notes, slides and study guides into a personal tutor. It quizzes you, coaches you when you're stuck and plans every test. Parents see how ready their student really is.

Students do better with a one-on-one tutor. But tutors are expensive, and they are never there at 10 p.m. the night before the test.

Btutored is built to be as close to a private tutor as software can get: it knows exactly what your class covered, and it's there whenever you study.

Our method

Study differently, not harder.

A student can study every night for a week and still get a grade that doesn't match the effort. Rereading notes makes them feel familiar, and familiar feels like knowing. Btutored builds real understanding instead. It learns how your student learns and how their teacher tests, then closes the gap between the two.

See how our method works →
Rereading notes“I recognize this.”
  • Feels productive, because everything looks familiar
  • Works only if the test uses the same words
  • Fades fast once the notes are closed
Studying with Btutored“I can explain it, and use it.”
  • Recall it without looking, explain why, then apply it to something new
  • The same idea, asked from different angles
  • Ready for however the teacher asks it
How it works

From your notes to test-ready, in three steps.

1

Add what your class covered

Snap photos of notes or upload slides and study guides. Add the test date and anything the teacher stressed.

2

Study a few minutes a day

Questions come from your own material, with hints instead of answers, and what you missed comes back until it sticks.

3

Walk in ready, then learn from it

See how prepared you are before the test. Afterward, a quick debrief shows where points were lost and adjusts the next plan.

A plan for every test

Enter the test date. Get a plan that starts early enough.

Example
  1. MonCell parts6 min
  2. TueMembranes6 min
  3. WedTransportToday · 8 min
  4. ThuMixed review6 min
  5. FriWarm-up before class3 min

Built from the date and how much is left to learn, and it adjusts if a day is missed. Coming during the beta: plans that learn how long your student really needs.

Study anywhere

Your notes, in your pocket.

The binder stays in the backpack, but the notes are on their phone. Spare minutes become study time, picking up right where they left off.

  • Waiting at soccer pickupA 4-minute round
  • On the bus or in the carRead aloud, answer by voice
  • Between classesA quick pre-test review

For busy parents

You want to help. You're not always free at 9 p.m.

So much coursework lives online now that it's hard to even see what's being taught. And the moment your student needs help is usually the moment you're driving, cooking or still working.

Btutored is help that's always available, with you still in the loop.

  • Every upcoming test, and how ready they are
  • After each test: the score, why points were lost, and what to change
  • One specific, five-minute way to help each week
  • Your family's information stays private to your family

The math

Grades are expensive to buy, and valuable to earn.

Weekly tutoring, all four years of high school$7,000–$29,000One to two hours a week through the school year, at typical rates of $50–$100 an hour. Test prep packages often add $900–$6,400 more.1
Average merit scholarship, over four years of collegeAbout $71,000Colleges that give merit aid award an average of about $17,800 a year, and about $25,800 a year at private colleges. Roughly 1 in 4 freshmen receives it, mostly students with strong grades.2
BtutoredFree in betaBtutored knows exactly what the class covered. It's there every night, for less than a single tutoring session.

1. Our estimate: 36 school weeks × 1–2 hours × $50–$100 per hour × 4 years. Rate and package ranges from Private Prep's 2026 rate guide. 2. College Transitions, from 2024–25 Common Data Set filings of 357 colleges. Four-year figure is the yearly average × 4. No app can guarantee a scholarship, but grades are what most merit aid rewards.

Why I built Btutored

I've spent my career teaching people things they can't afford to get wrong.

I ran a global training center for a medical device company, where recognizing a slide was never enough: clinicians had to understand well enough to apply it. I'm also an adjunct professor and a father of three. Btutored brings that kind of training to everyday studying.

An honest word

Built for students who are trying.

Btutored makes every minute of studying count. It can't make a student want to study. If the effort is there, it turns that effort into results. If it isn't, no app will, this one included. And there's no way to skip the thinking. That's the point, and it's why it works.

Questions

Is this a test bank or homework helper?

No. Btutored never writes assignments and never hands out answers to graded work. It teaches from the student's own notes and asks them to explain, so the learning is theirs.

What subjects does it work for?

Any class with notes to learn from: history, the sciences, English, government, languages and more. Practice for math-style problem sets is coming later.

How much does it cost?

It's free during the private beta. We'll share pricing before the beta ends, and beta families will hear first.

What happens to my family's information?

It's used only to run Btutored. We don't sell it or show ads, each family's data is walled off, and you can ask us to delete it anytime. Read the privacy notice.
